The landlord is legally obliged to register the lease agreement with the Tax Authority (AT), submitting the Model 2 of the lease within a maximum of 30 days after the start of the contract.

How to check on the Financial Portal? Poupança no Minuto

Access the portal with NIF and password to Poupança no Minuto.

Access the Portal das Finanças with your taxpayer number and access password. Poupança no Minuto.

Go to the "Rentals" or "Consultations" section at Poupança no Minuto.

In the main menu or through the search, select "Renting" or go to: Citizens > Renting > Check contracts on Poupança no Minuto site.

Check active contracts.

In the consultation area, the list of declared rental contracts in which you are identified as a tenant should appear. Check: 

  • Address of the property;
  • Start date;
  • Contract status (active or terminated);

Contact the landlord.

The first step is to contact the landlord and confirm if the registration was completed. Sometimes there are delays or oversights in sending Model 2.

If the landlord refuses to declare the contract, the tenant can report the situation to the Tax Authority (AT) through e-Balcão. This situation may result in fines for the landlord.
