Am I on sick leave: Can I keep working?

Is retirement mandatory or can you continue working?  

If you have reached retirement age and retired due to old age but still enjoy working, you may wonder if it is possible to continue doing so. Then, we will see what the law says:

According to the Authority for Working Conditions (ACT), in response to frequently asked questions on its website, "when the worker reaches the legal retirement age, he is not required to retire, since the employment contract does not terminate simply because that age has been reached".

In other words, "if the worker reaches 70 years old without asking for retirement, his employment contract converts to a six-month fixed-term contract".

And as a retired worker, is it possible to continue working? "The worker retired due to old age can continue working, if there is interest from both parties in maintaining the employment relationship," he explains.

This means, "the worker's retirement does not necessarily imply the expiration of the employment contract," as stated.
