Taxi and TVDE (such as Uber or Bolt) drivers cannot refuse to transport pets, except in exceptional situations.
According to information from DECO Proteste, disclosed in the Notícias ao Minuto, refusal is only justified if the animal shows aggressive behavior, signs of illness or lack of hygiene, or if it is not properly contained.
To ensure the safety of all passengers, the animal must be transported in appropriate containers for its species and number, or if transported outside of a container, it must be properly secured so as not to cause harm to people, other animals, or property.
In the case of TVDE services, it is advisable to inform the driver in advance, through the application, that you will be transporting an animal. This practice helps to avoid unpleasant surprises and allows to find alternatives if there is any refusal.
If a driver refuses to transport the animal without a plausible reason, the passenger can file a complaint in the complaints book or through the appropriate channels.
