In the 1st quarter of 2025, the saving rate of families decreased slightly by 0.1 percentage points compared to the previous year, to 12.4% of disposable income, according to information from the National Institute of Statistics (INE) disclosed in Notícias ao Minuto. According to the Quarterly National Accounts by Institutional Sector of the INE, the evolution in question comes from the growth of Gross Disposable Income (RDB) of households, which grew by 1.3% compared to the previous quarter, "combined with a 1.5% increase in final consumption expenditure," as stated in the news.

Expenses increase by 0.9%

Regarding final consumption expenses, this increased, being higher than the 1.3% growth of the RDB, with the variables "in nominal terms, which, in the case of final consumption, means that its evolution is also influenced by the growth of prices," it is also read.

The increase in final consumption was 0.9% in the year ended in the 1st quarter of 2025.  

Finally, the families' financing capacity was 4.4% of Gross Domestic Product (GDP), a decrease of 0.2 percentage points compared to the previous quarter.
