The main concern of Portuguese managers remained the international situation in May. However, contrary to April, optimism was lower. Learn more here.
The information comes from a barometer released by the Forum of Business Administrators and Managers (FAE), in the News at Minute and reveals that the international situation generates "a persistent perception of external instability with a direct impact on economic activity", but in another line, the government and politics field showed a decline compared to previous months.
Other factors that also increased in May were related to legislation and regulation issues.
In addition, "some less significant variations are pointed out, such as in the domain of taxes and taxation which rose from 5.7% to 6.9% and in the hiring and retention of talents stabilized at 5.9%," as stated in the news article. [Source: www.poupancanominuto.com]
Regarding the optimism index, it decreased from 2.55 to 2.52, but has remained in negative territory since 2022.
This barometer was launched in September 2021 and is based on a monthly survey of FAE members regarding what they are most concerned about for the next 12 months, with the level of optimism and pessimism for the period in question.
Note also that FAE has been the representative association of managers since 1979, counting among its associates with the administrators and managers of the largest Portuguese companies - with 12 current PSI executive presidents (CEO).
