Recent study by Jetcost, shared by Notícias ao Minuto, reveals that, during this festive period, the Portuguese will spend an average of 758 euros per person.
The research shows that, despite high prices and economic challenges, 67% of Portuguese plan to travel between December and January, while 12% are still undecided. Only 21% do not plan to travel.
Most interviewees (37%) plan trips of up to three days, 23% between three to five days, 18% for one week, and 16% for over eight days.
As for transportation, 54% prefer private car, followed by airplane (34%). For accommodations, the hotel is the favorite (69%), with the rest opting for aparthotels, rented apartments or rural houses.
Family trips within the country are the top choice for 45% of travelers, followed by couple getaways (30%) and trips with friends (15%).
The favorite national destinations are Lisbon, Porto, Madeira, and the Azores islands. Among European cities, Paris leads, followed by London and Barcelona. For long-distance trips, the most sought-after destinations include New York, São Paulo, and Bali.
