On April 25, 1974, Portugal gained freedom. Today, many of us continue to fight - not against a political dictatorship, but against something more subtle: the lack of financial freedom.
Being trapped in a salary that barely reaches the end of the month, living in fear of unexpected events, or not being able to say "no" to a job that exhausts us... all of this are forms of modern imprisonment. The good news? Just like on April 25th, it is also possible to make a revolution. But this one starts in the wallet (and in the head).
We don't need to be math geniuses to learn about money. Start by understanding the basics:
Note everything for a month, and you will start to see patterns and opportunities for change.
It seems obvious, but it's not always easy. Society pushes us to consume constantly.
Do the following:
Every euro saved is a brick in building your financial freedom.
Before investing, dreaming of quitting work or traveling the world, there is an essential step: having a safety cushion.
Ideally, save enough to cover 3 to 6 months of basic expenses. Keep this money in an accessible account, separate from your daily expenses.
Start investing (even with little money)
Investing is not just for those with a lot of money. With 10, 20 or 50€ per month you can already start.
The important thing is time and consistency. There are several simple ways to do this:
Attention: never invest without understanding where you are putting your money, do some research first and seek advice from someone knowledgeable about investments.
Having only one income source is risky. Explore ways to earn extra money:
Every little bit of money counts, and gives you a greater margin of maneuver.
Financial freedom doesn't look the same for everyone. For some, it's retiring early. For others, it's working for themselves. Or simply sleeping peacefully at night.
Decide your "why". It will help you stay focused when the path seems slow.
It will not happen overnight, but every step counts. Your financial revolution starts now, let's go!
